Online Ordination in Pennsylvania

Legal Gray Area

Pennsylvania exists in a legal gray area regarding online ordinations. The state does not formally recognize online-ordained ministers, but does not actively police it. Pennsylvania offers a self-uniting marriage license as an alternative.

Marriage licenses are obtained from the Clerk of the Orphans' Court. There is a 3-day waiting period. The license is valid for 60 days. Self-uniting marriage licenses are available.
